Model Range

Diesel or petrol, the engine range of the New C4 is at the forefront of motor industry technology and are amongst the best in their segment in terms of high efficiency and low emissions.

Under the stylish bonnet, 2 new petrol engines (1.6L and the 1.6L Turbo) have joined the 1.6L and 2.0L Diesel engines, delivering more on-road pleasure with significantly reduced fuel consumption & emissions.  The new line-up consists of;

  • 1.6L Petrol Auto
  • 1.6L Turbo Petrol
  • 1.6L HDi
  • 2.0L HDi Auto
Features
E-HDi Micro-Hybrid

The e-HDi micro-hybrid technology combines an HDi engine with a new generation Stop & Start system and a system to recover brake energy during deceleration. In this way, the Citroen C4 HDi helps you limit your fuel consumption, with a consumption reduced by about 15% in city driving.

This advanced technology is easy to use. Whenever you stop, the engine simply cuts out. As soon as you release the brake pedal, the Citroen C4 engine starts up instantly and automatically, without any further action by the driver and without interference with your driving style.

Green Materials

Not only is it highly efficient, but with the Citroen C4, Citroen have also striven to minimise its production's environmental footprint.

Conscious that most components that make up a car like steel, glass or fluids are already widely recyclable and recycled, Citroen has ensured that an increasing share of plastics comes from sustainable sources. The result is that 15% of the Citroen C4's 200kg of polyamide components is made using 'green' materials (plant fibres, wood) and bio materials polyamides stemming from non-fossil renewable sources). Thirty parts of the car - amongst which the rear bumper, door panels, carpets and wheel arches - are made using green materials.

The Citroen C4 is produced at Citroen's Mulhouse factory. The factory, situated at the crossroads between France, Germany and Switzerland boasts excellent environmental credentials thanks to years of efforts. In 30 years, it has divided its water consumption per vehicle by a factor of 14, and currently reuses 99.5% of the material waste it generates. With Citroen C4, Citroen have created a vehicle that is 85% recyclable and contains may green material parts this positively contributes to sustainable manufacturing and to the bolstering of a stronger recycling industry.

Lightweight Engineering

All Citroen C4's exemplify the art of achieving unparalleled levels of quality and safety whilst decreasing the vehicle's weight. No effort and industrial investment has been spared to optimise weight and quality. The innovative roof's laser welding has allowed a saving of 2kg compared to traditional assembly techniques; a thinner rear hatch window cuts weight by 1kg. Even the steering wheel and alloy wheels have been optimised to save a total of 4.5kg versus the previous generation C4.

This demanding engineering philosophy allows Citroen C4 to be slightly roomier than the previous generation C4 yet lighter and better equipped.

Strength

The Citroen C4 exudes robustness. At the front, the impression of strength and stability is immediate at first glance, with the bonnet sitting flush on the beautifully designed chrome twin chevrons and stretched headlamps. The forward-facing front underskirt, with its large air grille, hints at the model's dynamism and aerodynamics. From the side, the sharp crease lines do not intersect and give the Citroen C4 a muscular profile.

The vehicle's chiseled profile bristles with premium details. Most versions feature glossy black B-pillars and roof spoiler. Rear side windows are also embellished thanks to a blackout treatment and stylish chrome window sills. Testament to this attention to detail, the upper side panel and the roof have been laser-welded to make any assembly joint disappear thus leaving an unusually sleek and smooth roof.

Sophisticated Interior

The Citroen C4's interior is attractive and sophisticated, and boasts considerable attention to details. Showcasing the cabin to subtle effect, the Citroen C4's interior uses best in class materials, such as a soft-touch one piece dashboard. The centre fascia thoughtfully groups chrome clad controls in one convenient location. The steering wheel feels substantial, with chrome highlights and several multifunctional zones for easy operation of the vehicle's main functions.

The centre consol boasts a smart appearance. The Gear Selector - present on EGS gearbox versions - solidly positioned on a sliding rail in the console is made of a single piece of steel covered with leather. It feels solid and fits snugly in the driver's palm.

Attention to detail

There is a sense of serenity on-board the Citroen C4. All elements of lighting in the cabin have been finely tuned to match and respond to each other. The front and rear LED map-reading spotlights* cast a clear white light that looks both sophisticated and modern. LED mood lighting* bathes the front of the centre console in a soothing hue, and the ambience can be further enhanced thanks to a 1.3m2 panoramic sunroof.

Space and Compact Design

Space and size, versatility and user friendly design, the new Citroen C4 has it all. The dimensions are compact (4.33m long, 1.79m tall) but with no trade-off in accessibility or space. Rear headroom is impressive, while the best-in-class boot is designed to make full use of all available space.

Best in Class Boot

The boot on the new Citroen C4 quite simply sets a new market standard in terms of size. With maximum capacity of 408 litres, it can carry five passengers and all their luggage in comfort. The 2/3-1/3 split-fold rear seat creates a modular layout, while the ski flap (depending on models) makes it possible to carry long, cumbersome objects. On most models, the removable torch light can be left in place to light up the boot, or removed for use in dimly lit areas.

Generous Storage

The cabin includes a host of roomy, ingenious storage compartments. Each front door can hold a 1.5 litres bottle and miscellaneous A4-size documents whilst rear doors can welcome a 0.5 litre bottle and a paperback. Most models' front seats come with back pockets to slip in magazines and other slim items.

Centre Consoles

Centre consoles come in four variants low, semi-raised, raised with manual gearbox and raised with EGS gearbox all available depending on the trim level and transmission. They all offer generous storage for drinks, mobile phones and other items.

The raised centre console with the EGS transmission in particular offers a large refrigerated and illuminated compartment that can be closed using a sliding shutter. It can hold up to four 0.5 litre bottles. In the upper part of this storage is a clever inner drawer that can be extended to allow front occupants to position their mobile phone for easy connection to the nearby USB or 12V socket.

Driver Focused

The multi-functional steering wheel feels substantial and objectively reinforces the feeling of control. It offers multiple functions at the driver's fingertips. This allows the driver to remain focused on the road whilst operating key functions like setting the cruise control or activating a phone call.

The central console combines both storage and connectivity, with USB and 12V sockets being lodged in the front compartment on most models. Two cup holders embedded in the console also provide added convenience for those on the move drinks.

The fascia gathers audio, air conditioning and as on option satellite navigation controls in one convenient cluster. The enormous amount of thought that has been put into the cabin is apparent everywhere, a cabin where awareness of both the car and the road has been nurtured.

Serene Ambience

The instrument panel standard on most models fuses analogue and digital display technologies with three striking binnacles offering perfect legibility and enveloping the cabin in captivating blue glow. The glowing analogue speed hand circles around the central binnacle instead of straddling it, demonstrating just how much technology and attention has been packed in the car. Proof of Citroen's creative technology and of New C4's engineering prowess, the blue shade of the binnacles and their surrounds can be adjusted independently in intensity, leaving no scone unturned when it comes to making New C4 adaptable to its driver's requirements.

Sound Sophistication

Firmly contributing to the atmosphere of serenity and control on-board, the cabined's meticulous soundproofing has been engineered to match acoustics found in larger executive saloons by filtering out exterior, road and aerodynamic noise.

At the front, soundproofing has been reinforced under the bonnet to reduce engine noise and vibrations at the source and in the dashboard. Most windscreens (on HDi and certain petrol versions) are acoustic laminated, meaning that a dampening film is sandwiched between the two glass layers making up the windscreen. Around occupants, all doors benefit from a triple protection arrangement usually only found on premium executive saloons. The floor has been treated with special soundproofing elements and the whole cabin's structure sprayed with a damping solution replacing the usual "Fusible Soundproofing Sheet" technique, thus reducing weight whilst ensuring great serenity. The friction and acoustics compatibility of adjoining components have also been carefully examined, resulting in a suppression of mechanical sounds (operation of air conditioning, automatic parking brake) and a perfect harmony of neighbouring parts (cloth against leather parts to suppress any irritating squeaking sounds).

Driving Aids

Rear parking sensors provide a visual and acoustic indication as to the proximity of a potential obstacle when reversing at speeds lower than 10km/h, thus reducing the risk of damage or injury.

Door mirrors can be folded automatically (when locking the vehicle) or manually using a button situated on the driver's door panel. This allows drivers to neatly park the car and guarantees good access. Door mirror casings also incorporate an LED light so that front occupants can step out of the car confidently.

Comfortable Seating

New Citroen C4's front and rear seats received particular attention in order to make them especially comfortable and supportive. The adjustments available on the steering wheel and the driver's seat make it easy for everyone to adopt the best driving position. All front seats can slide forwards and backwards, have their backrests adjusted, and are height adjustable by up to 5cm. In addition, depending on the trim level, front passengers enjoy sliding armrests and manual lumbar adjustment for both front seats or luxurious part leather front seats with electric lumbar adjustment and massage function, as well as a sliding height adjustable central armrest.

Safety
5 Stars in EURONCAP

The Citroen C4 achieves the maximum 5-star rating in the new, more stringent Euro NCAP crash test introduced in 2009. Intelligent design and an impressive array of standard safety features- like six airbags, ESP, unfastened seatbelt warnings and fixings - make this vehicle a very safe place to be.

Cornering Light Function

The Citroen C4 offers a cornering light function as standard on most versions. This function dramatically improves night-time visibility in bends and at intersections. Depending on the turning angle of the wheels, the fog lights operate with the main (dipped) headlamp so as to illuminate the right or left angle of the vehicle up to 75º. This function dramatically improves visibility and enables you to spot other road users and potential obstacles earlier.

Favourite Speeds

For additional control and safety, all Citroen C4 models are fitted as standard with a cruise control and speed limiter that allows the driver to memorise their favourite speeds, thus allowing them to select a cruising or limit speed more easily and retain their focus on the road.

Blind Sport Monitoring

The upgrades made to the Citroen C4 aim first and foremost to set the hightest standards in safety. One major innovation is the blind spot monitoring system.

Using four sensors positioned in the front and rear bumpers, this active safety function detects any vehicles or motorbikes in your blind spot. An LED then lights up in the corresponding rearview mirror to inform you.
